Design Tonic completes 30,000 sq ft Leeds United fit-out
The Leeds-based interior design and fit-out specialist has finished a programme of works across the football club’s Elland Road Stadium and Thorp Arch training ground.
The work, delivered ahead of the Premier League season, includes a 20,000 sq ft temporary hospitality marquee at Elland Road, which will provide facilities while the stadium’s West Stand is redeveloped.
The marquee contains four hospitality suites with capacity for around 1,000 guests.
Design Tonic has also created a new Presidents Lounge from a former back-of-house area, alongside a new Chairman’s Guest Lounge and refurbishment works to the club’s reception and boardroom.
At Thorp Arch, the contractor has delivered a new Academy canteen and boot room, as well as refurbishing the players’ canteen. This comes as the club is awaiting planning permission to improve its training ground in Thorp Arch near Wetherby.
Supported by Sheppard Planning and Martin Walsh Architectural, plans focus on four main elements consisting of a new groundskeeper’s facility, reworking the existing barn into a facilities for students and parents, such as changing rooms, providing more parking, and separating deliveries from general site traffic.
The projects also form part of Leeds United’s ongoing investment in its stadium as plans for the redevelopment of Elland Road, including the new West Stand, progress. Redevelopment of the stadium’s West Stand, which will be constructed over the existing structure as the first phase of a wider programme to transform Elland Road into a UEFA Category 4 venue, has been underway since June and is expected to take around three seasons to complete.
Head of IT and facilities at Leeds United Football Club, Mark Broadley, said: “Design Tonic has become a trusted partner to Leeds United. They understand both the operational requirements of a football club and the importance of ensuring every environment feels unmistakably Leeds United.
“This has been a particularly important project for us, supporting the next stage of development at Elland Road while ensuring our hospitality guests continue to receive a high-quality experience.
“At the same time, the improvements at Thorp Arch enhance the everyday environments available to our players and Academy.”
Design Tonic co-founder, Amanda Cook, said: “Our relationship with Leeds United has developed over seven years, so we have a strong understanding of the club, its brand and the expectations of its guests, players and staff.
“Each of these new spaces have been designed to create a consistent sense of quality across the Leeds United estate, and we are very pleased with the final result. I’m also immensely proud of our team and the hard work that has gone into delivering such a significant programme of works in a short timescale.”
