Construction to commence at Osgodby SEND school
The project was given unanimous approval in April last year and now Bowmer + Kirkland is set to start work on the 100-place special educational needs and disabilities facility in North Yorkshire.
B+K was commissioned by the Department for Education to develop a SEND school for the site, with the professional team also including landscape architect One Environments, RPS, Curtins, and planner DPP.
Designed by Stride Treglown, the 6.4-acre site, south of the A63 Hull Road, is currently agricultural, bisected by a public right of way, with housing and Selby Garden Centre as near neighbours.
All school facilities will be located within the western portion of the site and the school itself will be two storeys in height with a flat roof, with materials used being a mix of brick and cladding with powder-coated aluminium doors and windows.
South View Academy will provide education for pupils between 3-19 years of age with a wide range of special needs and will be run by the Wellspring Academy Trust, which oversees 33 schools across North, South, and East Yorkshire.
