Caddick completes West Point recladding

The 16-storey feat on Wellington Street is one of the largest schemes outside of London, with the construction company replacing 130,000 sq ft of cladding on the residential property.

The façade install has also included the replacement of 27,000 sq ft of brickwork, as well as 25,000 linear metres of firestops and cavity barriers – equidistant to the journey from Leeds to Wakefield.

Designed to ensure the building meets current fire safety regulations, the investment at West Point was delivered on behalf of Mainstay Residential and West Point Management.

Throughout the project, Caddick also invested in a range of initiatives to support more than 200 students across Leeds, including partnership initiatives with Leeds Beckett University and Castleford College, and teamed up with Leeds College of Building students to carry out £2,000 worth of refurbishment works at Herd Farm Residential and Activity Centre.

The project was completed while the building remained fully occupied. This required careful planning and close collaboration with residents and business occupants.

Steve Ford, regional managing director, Caddick Construction North East & Yorkshire, commented: “The successful and safe completion of this project is a testament to the detailed planning, technical expertise and close coordination between our team and our supply chain partners.

“We’re particularly grateful to the building’s occupants for their patience and cooperation throughout the works; completing a project of this scale with residents in situ is never without its challenges.”
