And finally… plaque to the future

Dame Jessica Ennis-Hill, recipient of the Paving the Way award at the MOBO Awards – held in Sheffield in case you missed it – now has the additional honour of a plaque outside the English Institute of Sport.

Following her MOBO win, the 2012 Olympic heptathlon champion has been honoured with a permanent, commemorative paving stone outside the venue, where she once trained.

Also a three-time world champion, the Sheffielder was awarded in recognition of not only her achievements in sport, but as being an inspirational role model for many and a passionate advocate for local charities close to her heart.

Former Paving the Way winners include Leeds boxer Nicola Adams, Sir Lenny Henry and Idris Elba.

The stone is engraved with the words “The only one who can tell you you can’t win is you and you don’t have to listen”. Excellent, stirring stuff.
