Honey to build 500 homes on three sites in Barnsley
Mark Mitchell’s ambitious startup has submitted plans to the council for its latest projects in Royston, Darton and Hemingfield.
The Sheffield-headquartered housebuilder was established in 2022 by former Avant Homes CEO Mitchell with backing from private equity firm Alchemy Partners and its £937m Alchemy Special Opportunities Fund IV.
In Royston, Honey aims to deliver a £73m, 247-home development on a 21.6-acre site off Lee Lane. The proposed development, which would be called Willow, will have mix of two-, three-, four-bed and five-bedroom homes.
In Hemingfield, a 16.8-acre site off Hemingfield Road will be called Juniper and deliver 173 homes with a gross development value of £53m. Juniper will feature 17 different house types ranging from two to four bedrooms.
In Darton, a 10.2-acre site off Bloomhouse Lane will see a £35m, 119-home development called Bloom.
Honey says its house types have all been specifically designed to combine “style, substance and sustainability” for the benefit of buyers.
Since its launch in October 2022, Honey has secured 32 immediate sites throughout the Midlands and Yorkshire that will deliver 4,842 homes with a combined gross development value of £1.4bn.
Mark Mitchell commented: “Submitting plans for our proposed developments in Royston, Darton and Hemingfield highlights our ongoing commitment to delivering new homes for prospective buyers across the South Yorkshire area.
“The developments we are currently selling from across the region are proving hugely popular, highlighting the strong demand for the high specification homes we are building.”
Honey’s other live developments in the area include Maltby, near Rotherham and Rossington, Doncaster.
