Tilbury Douglas lands £30.6m Leeds specialist school job
The City Council has approved the expansion of Broomfield South in Belle Isle as it looks to increase SEND capacity across the city.
The scheme will involve demolishing part of the existing Broomfield South Specialist Inclusive Learning Centre on Broom Place to make way for a three-storey teaching building.
The new building is scheduled to be completed in February 2028, after which Tilbury Douglas will undertake external works and demolish the existing main school building.
The entire project is expected to be finished by September 2028.
Norse Group was the architect on the scheme, which the council said has been affected by delays to the planning process.
One hundred new places will be brought into use in stages during the 2027-28 academic year and the project is being funded through Leeds City Council’s capital programme, forming part of efforts to address increasing demand for specialist school places.
