Sheffield keeps padel-ing
Capital&Centric and Club de Padel are renovating a derelict building in the Cannon Brewery, Neepsend part of the city where the developer is redeveloping historic buildings into a 550-home community.
C&C’s proposals for the former brewery site include retention and repurposing of the most interesting buildings from the former brewery alongside contemporary new-builds to deliver more than 500 homes, work and cultural spaces.
Now, it will also house the first indoor padel venue in the city.
Alongside South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority, who awarded an £11.7m grant last year towards the regeneration of the area, C&C is working to create the venue, a club shop, café, and bar.
Tom Wilmot, joint managing director of Capital&Centric, said: “Bringing padel to Cannon Brewery, is a great way of getting people back into the disused spaces whilst we get stuck in to transforming the site.”
James Wigglesworth, co-founder of Club de Padel added: “We’re looking forward to opening our second site in this incredible space. Sheffield has all the ingredients for us, and this building in Neepsend has bags of character, which felt perfect for our urban, inclusive club.”
Looks like a fantastic meanwhile use
