Persimmon seeks Calderdale consent

Plans for around 100 homes in the village of Shelf have been submitted to the local authority.

The site at Soaper Lane is allocated for housing in Calderdale’s Local Plan. Of 104 homes mapped out, 31 would be transferred to a local housing provider.

Across the site, the project will involve housing of two to four bedrooms.

James Parkin, land director, Persimmon West Yorkshire, said: “We’re delighted to have submitted plans for a new development in Shelf.

“This development will provide 104 high quality new homes for local homebuyers, built to a high design in keeping with the local area.

“With the need for new housing rightly high up the political agenda, we’re pleased to be working with Calderdale Council and local stakeholders to deliver homes for first-time buyers, families and downsizers alike.”

Persimmon last week reported its final figures for the 2023 financial year, a year that saw the York-headquartered firm complete fewer than 10,000 homes and record profits of around half the £730m reported for 2022.
