Farrington takes up new role
The long-term director of city development at Leeds City Council will become chair of national consultancy SLC Property.
Farrington worked in local government for 35 years and was director of city development at Leeds until last month, leading on such projects as the proposals for regenerating the South Bank and station area and the restoration of Temple Mill for the British Library North.
His new role is effective as of 1 November.
Farrington was a speaker at the inaugural Place Yorkshire Emerging Development Hotspots event in March this year, speaking of achievements, aspirations for the future and the projects that got away.
SLC Property is headquartered in Birmingham. Russell Mills, managing director, said: “We are excited to welcome Martin as chair of SLC Property. His experience and wider connections will be extremely useful as he guides the board through a period of building and diversifying the business.”
Farrington said: “I’m excited to be appointed chair of SLC Property. The company has a strong reputation for building excellent stakeholder relationships and supporting clients with specialised property advice.
“I’m looking forward to drawing on my years of property and regeneration experience to support the board as it grows and diversifies into new sectors.”
