Expansion teed up at East Yorks business park

Planning permission has been secured for units ranging from 88,000 sq ft to 212,000 sq ft at Dianthus Business Park in Newport.

The park is owned and operated by Newport Buildings LLP and is already home to companies including JZ Flowers International, QwikFlowers, Royal Lemkes, William Jackson Food Group, ProGarm and FlamePro.

The site currently provides full time employment for 700 people.

Earlier this year, it was announced that Hull based Paneltex, a maker of specialised commercial refrigerated vehicle bodies and storage systems, had completed a deal to move into a 140,000 sq ft industrial facility at Dianthus.

Yorkshire construction firm, Hobson & Porter, also recently completed a £7m project at the site to deliver two 65,000 sq ft warehouse and distribution units, which are let to Jacksons Bakery and Royal Lemkes.

Hobson & Porter has now built 550,000 sq ft of warehouse and distribution buildings, and more than 35,000 sq ft of office space over the last 10 years at the site.

Hobson & Porter’s managing director, Richard Hunter, said: “We have a long-standing relationship with Newport Buildings LLP and have delivered 10 phases of work to date, worth over £35m, that fit with their exacting standards and vision for their own business, and other businesses on the park.

“We’re now looking forward to exploring further phases at Dianthus Business Park with businesses that recognise the benefits of having a state of the art warehouse or distribution centre that’s right next to Junction 38 of the A63/M62.”

Hunter added: “The buildings also offer exceptional green credentials. These include recycling heat generated by the chiller facilities to heat water and under-floor heating systems for the offices, the installation of a well providing grey water for the toilet flushing, a purpose-built 4.1 acre wetlands that collects rainwater and interior LED lighting fitted with movement detection sensors.”

Founder of Newport Buildings LLP, Jelle Zwemstra, said: “It’s fantastic to have continued our decade long relationship with Hobson & Porter which shares our commitment to innovation, quality, and value for money.

“We are also delighted to be supporting jobs in the East Riding of Yorkshire and look forward to continuing to develop the site, with these latest design and build opportunities, as we create one of East Yorkshire’s most sought after and popular business parks.”

The latest units are being marketed by Hull-based agent Garness Jones.
