DBG submits latest Hull plans
The developer behind the conversion of the city’s former Debenhams into apartments has set its sights on the vacant Circus Circus nightclub into a mixed-use scheme.
Working alongside Stone Castle Architects and HMS Town Planning, DBG is looking to demolish the former nightclub and build a six-storey building comprising 164 homes and four ground-floor commercial units.
Access to the 0.9-acre site is from Ferensway in the city centre, with the existing building positioned on the back of the main footpath on Spencer Street.
The housing mix would be broken down into five studio, 138 one-bed, 16 two-bed, and five three-bed apartments.
The train and bus station are just 200m from the site and to the east is a large multi-storey car park.
Previously, planning was granted in 2010 for the demolition and erection of a seven-storey block called Trinity Tower, however this never materialised.
Back in December, DBG was given an unanimous go-ahead from Hull City Council to regenerate the vacant Debenhams into 178 apartments, allowing the change of use from retail to residential.

Whilst development on this site is essential, that is one of the worst looking new schemes I have seen in England.
