Loxley set for Masham housing nod

The developer is set for a green light from North Yorkshire Council next week for its 48-home estate in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales.

Designed by Vaughn Architecture & Design with planning consultancy from Ripon Development Services, the scheme has been in the works since plans were submitted in 2022.

Located on  on fields to the north and south of Swinton Road, which will also be where vehicular access is from, the site is bounded by a large zone of protected trees to the south, the majority of which will be retained.

To the east is existing housing off Swinburn Road, and the western boundary is open countryside.

An existing playground sits to the north east of the site, which has been incorporated into the design and will be used as the main location for public space within the estate.

Loxley Homes is acting on behalf of the trustee of the Swinton Heirs Trust, Trustees of Williams Fund, Broadacres Housing Association, and Mulberry Homes Yorkshire.

All very well, but how many of the houses will be for local people or for council tenants where there is desperate need. They shouldn’t be for second or multiple home owners.

We don’t need 4 bedroom property housing in masham. We need cheap housing for locals and for those in desperate need of homes. Not lining pockets of the well off in the area.
