Canal Wharf residential block set for green light

Bankfoot APAM’s plans for a 170 BTR apartment block in Leeds’ Holbeck district are recommended for approval at the upcoming Leeds City Council planning meeting.

The existing 1990s office building is set to be demolished and replaced with an eight- nine- or 10-storey scheme designed by Russdrage Architects, who submitted the plans for Bankfoot on behalf of NPV Leeds.

The project team also includes planning consultant Ashton Hale, WSP, Core 5 quantity surveyors, Crookes Walker Consulting, and urban landscape designers Planit.

With a GIA of 147,000 sq ft, the building will also have an extensive roof terrace.

The existing basement will be extended to accommodate a residents’ cycle storage and waste management facilities.

The ground level will consist of disabled parking bays, a frequent use cycle store with space for 10% of residents’ bikes, as well as service and delivery facilities.

A new public, fully accessible pedestrian and cycle connection will also be established between Water Lane and Canal Wharf

As for the apartments themselves, there will be 12 studios, 90 one-bed, 50 two-bed, and 18 three-bed units.
