Avant set for Thurnscoe green light

Plans for a £66.5m housing development in Barnsley are expected to secure planning approval next week, paving the way for the construction of 289 homes.

Avant Homes applied to Barnsley Council for permission in January for the scheme on land off Thurscoe Bridge Lane.

The proposed development would comprise two one-bedroom, 119 two-bedroom, 132 three-bedroom, and 28 four-bedroom homes, including 16 bungalows across 15 different house types.

Associated infrastructure, open space and landscaping are also included.

The council will consider the application on 28 October with the recommendation to approve.

Avant Homes initially sought permission for 296 dwellings, but the total was reduced to 289 following consultation.
