Aire Park tops out on The Keystone
Vastint has reached the top of its latest commercial building at the 24-acre development in Leeds, a seven-storey, 80,000 sq ft grade A office that will be the gateway into the scheme when approached from the city centre.
Designed by Cartwright Pickard and built by Leeds-based Moortown, the project team on the building also include JPT Roofing and Inhus engineers.
The Keystone is so-called because of its shape, and will offer 75,000 sq ft of office space and around 7,000 sq ft of flexible ground floor retail space.
Located on the corner of Waterloo Street and Hunslet Road, it adds to Aire Park’s existing commercial buildings, 1 and 3 Brook Street, which opened last year.
To prioritise natural light the property will have floor to ceiling windows and a rooftop terrace, and is targeting BREEAM Excellent and WELL certifications.
Michael Cronin, head of portfolio at Vastint UK, said: “We are incredibly proud to introduce The Keystone to Aire Park and the Leeds South Bank.
“More than just a visually striking building, The Keystone will become home to a vibrant community at the heart of Aire Park where city centre convenience, nature and wellbeing work hand in hand as part of the area’s wider regeneration.”
Peter Cartwright, director at Cartwright Pickard, said: “The form and footprint reflect its role as a key gateway into the Tetley Triangle and wider Aire Park.
“With a curved bullnose, the scheme addresses the city with confidence, while the green glazed brick at ground level connects it to the public realm and Leeds’ heritage.
“Off-site construction has played a key role in delivering a floor every two weeks while maintaining high design quality.
“Over 60 percent of the façade uses a single pre-cast panel type, enhancing efficiency and reducing waste. We are proud to be working with Vastint UK on a project that champions longevity, adaptability and placemaking.”
