CEG and Banks Homes partner on Kirkstall Forge
The property specialist has appointed the Yorkshire-based housebuilder on its first joint venture at the £600m development in Leeds.
The two companies will now prepare a planning submission for a range of family homes to be located on the eastern end of the site.
Kirkstall Forge is a 56-acre site to the north west of Leeds city centre, close to Headingley on the banks of the River Aire, which has planning permission for a neighbourhood of offices, homes, retail, leisure, and community spaces.
CEG has delivered around £100m programme of works on behalf of investors into the brownfield site.
This includes the acquisition, clearance, remediation, archaeology, design, planning, utilities, and infrastructure, as well as a dedicated train station.
The Number One office development has also been delivered on the site, and a public consultation on the forthcoming plans will be held there on 3 July between 1-7pm.
Joe Cable, project manager at Banks Homes, said: “It will be a flagship development for Banks Homes in Leeds and we look forward to delivering sought-after homes in a fantastic new community, along with all the benefits that will bring to the area.”
Antonia Martin-Wright, director of commercial development at CEG, said: “We had a fantastic response when we went out to market and the ideas Banks has proposed are in line with our vision of creating a vibrant new community at Kirkstall Forge.”
