Microsoft submits Skelton Grange plans
The computer giant is looking to construct three 424,000 sq ft buildings to form its data centre campus at the former power station in Leeds.
Microsoft has lodged plans for full planning permission for the data centre campus alongside the associated water, power, and energy infrastructure, as well as access and landscaping.
It has also applied for outline permission for 160,000 sq ft of warehouse and distribution space with landscaping.
Supported by Savills, the project team also includes architect TTSP, and engineering consultants HDR and Ramboll.
Microsoft bought the land for plot one from Harworth Group for £53m in December.
It has also conditionally agreed to buy plot two for a further £53m.
Harworth will retain 16-acres at the Skelton Grange site, which will comprise 250,000 sq ft of employment space, in addition to 77-acres owned through the Aire Valley Land joint venture.
Harworth Group purchased the former Skelton Grange power station site in December 2014 for £3m.
Once the development is complete, Skelton Grange will provide around 250,000 sq ft of grade A industrial & logistics space, a hyperscale datacentre, a BESS facility, an Energy from Waste facility, and 28-acres of land returned to natural habitat alongside improved green travel infrastructure, which Harworth estimates will represent in excess of £4bn of inward investment.
