Leeds’ Mount St Mary’s set for green light

BAM Construction’s plans for the Catholic secondary school include the demolition of unused buildings, refurbishment of the 19th century building, and the construction of a 22,000 sq ft, three-storey facility.

ADAS Planning has been advising on the scheme, which is recommended for approval at Leeds’ planning meeting next week.

Located on a seven acre plot within Leeds city centre, the school is on the eastern side of the River Aire opposite to Leeds Dock.

The new school building will house the science labs, as well as classrooms and dining spaces, and associated landscaping will include relocating the car park.

Refurbishment works on the original school building will include repairs to the roof and external facades, while the demolition of the 1960’s buildings on the site will mean better views of the listed school building from the road, which will improve the overall look of the site.
