Caddick plans 3,000 homes on former airfield

Public consultation opened on Monday into the ambitious Langwith Village new town near York, proposed by a joint venture between Caddick, Bobby Land, and A1 Plant & Haulage.

As well as extensive housing, the proposal by the Langwith Development Partnership, includes schools, shops, employment space and community amenities.

Caddick’s Chris Procter, on behalf of the Langwith Development Partnership, said: “After a period of sustained engagement with key stakeholders and community representatives, we are pleased to be launching this public consultation and inviting local residents, businesses and community organisations to help shape the next stage of the proposals for Langwith Village.

“The masterplan has been informed by a wide-ranging programme of technical assessment, alongside a series of consultation and design workshops, which have helped us better understand the priorities and aspirations of local communities and stakeholders.

“We are now keen to hear from an even wider audience. This consultation is an opportunity for residents, businesses and organisations to review the emerging proposals, understand how earlier feedback has influenced the masterplan, and help shape the future of Langwith Village ahead of the submission of an outline planning application.”

Langwith Village has the support of Homes England and City of York Council, being adopted in the local plan.

There are 3,339 homes proposed for the land west of Elvington Lane, alongside infrastructure, services and green space.

The land is controlled by the JV partners, which have been negotiating with the planning authority since 2016.

Feedback is invited at the development website from Monday 19 October to Monday 30 November at www.langwithvillage.com. A dedicated consultation event will also be held on Tuesday 20 October from 2pm to 8pm at the Halifax Suite, Yorkshire Air Museum, Halifax Way, Elvington, York, YO41 4AU.
