Scape secures Leeds £66.5m refinancing deal

The student accommodation developer and operator has made the arrangement with Aareal Bank for its 670-bed PBSA development in Leeds.

The refinancing restructures existing debt associated with the Leeds scheme.

The £100m development, located at 44 Merrion Street, comprises a 32‑storey tower and an 11‑storey lower block.

Permission for the scheme was granted in 2020 and work completed on site in 2024.

Scape, in a joint venture with APG, led on the project, with HG Construction appointed as the main contractor.

Other members of the project team included SimpsonHaugh as lead architect, and Axiom Architects during the final construction phases.

Scape manages both the development and operation of the building, which forms part of its portfolio of student accommodation properties across the UK.
