Furnival House cued up for office-to-resi
The Sheffield office building could be converted to 70 one-bedroom apartments in the latest plans to come forward at the southern end of the city centre.
An application for a change of use on the seven upper floors of the building has now been validated by Sheffield City Council by the building’s owner, Midlands-based AGG1.
W13 is advising on the project. RP Acoustics and architect Caeparius have also provided professional advice.
Furnival House fronts Furnival Gate at the southern end of Sheffield city centre, close to The Moor and the Leonardo Hotel. The Furnival Gate NCP car park is adjacent.
The building was auctioned through Acuitus in 2015, when it was still in use as offices.
With both university campuses close by, the area now has various purpose-built student accommodation buildings.
Bluecastle is also advancing a 336-apartment build-to-rent tower at Farm Road, while Sheffield City Council is putting together proposals for an urban park and up to 2,000 homes in a radical re-drawing of the area around its Moorfoot building.
The project’s reference number on Sheffield’s planning portal is 24.02381/CDPN.
