The appointments come at a time of continued growth for CPW, which has evolved from a regional building services consultancy into a multidisciplinary engineering practice employing more than 420  people across 13 UK offices, alongside teams in Poland and India.

Established in 1978, the business provides mechanical and electrical engineering, sustainability, public health engineering, building physics, acoustics, power systems, vertical transportation, daylight and lighting consultancy, SMART buildings, and digital engineering services.

CPW works on projects across the education, healthcare, residential, commercial, industrial, and public sectors.

Recent years have seen the consultancy broaden both its geographic reach and technical offering.

The opening of a new Manchester office strengthened CPW’s presence across the North West, while the integration of Arno Acoustics has expanded the firm’s specialist acoustics capability through CPW Acoustics.

More recently, the business launched a dedicated Building Optimisation Team, helping clients improve building performance and operational efficiency long after completion.

While growth has remained a key theme, CPW attributes much of its success to its ability to retain and develop talent.

Unlike many larger consultancies, the firm’s directors and senior leaders continue to play an active role in project delivery, working directly alongside multidisciplinary teams and maintaining close relationships with clients.

That hands-on culture has helped create long-term careers within the business, with many employees progressing from graduate and apprenticeship routes into senior leadership positions.

The company’s apprenticeship programme remains central to that approach. With 62 apprentices currently undertaking Level 3 and Level 6 qualifications across engineering, human resources, and health and safety disciplines; CPW continues to invest heavily in addressing skills shortages across the built environment sector.

Alongside formal training, employees regularly participate in careers fairs, university engagement programmes, and school outreach initiatives nationwide, helping encourage more young people to consider careers in engineering and construction.

Sustainability also remains a major focus as the industry responds to increasingly ambitious net-zero targets. CPW has continued to invest in specialist sustainability expertise and technical development, supporting clients in reducing operational carbon emissions while delivering energy-efficient buildings that remain commercially viable.

The consultancy’s project portfolio includes work for clients such as the University of Birmingham, numerous NHS trusts, and development partners including Muse, alongside major schemes across the higher education, healthcare, commercial, and residential sectors.

According to its most recent financial reports, the firm has turned over a total of £30m within the last year. Notable projects include the University of Oxford’s Global Health Building, One Eastside in Birmingham, MIX Manchester, and the award-winning South Yorkshire Institute of Technology at Barnsley College.

For CPW, the latest promotions reflect a wider business strategy centred on long-term investment in people, technical excellence, and regional growth.

At a time when skills shortages and recruitment challenges continue to affect much of the construction industry, the consultancy’s ability to develop leaders from within has become an increasingly important part of its growth story.

With 80% of clients continuing to return year after year, is it any wonder that the firm is one of the UK’s top MEP consultancies? These latest appointments underline the confidence the business has in its people, and the confidence clients continue to place in CPW to deliver increasingly complex and sustainable projects across the UK.
