York set to give the nod to 700 Haxby homes

David Wilson (Barratt) Homes and Vistry Group’s joint application to build on an 80-acre parcel of land north of the town are recommended for approval at its planning meeting next Thursday.

Designed by John R Paley Associates and planners Barton Willmore now Stantec, the wider project team includes Pegasus, drainage engineers Egorum, highway consultant Stantec, arboricultural consultant JCA, and ecologist Brooks Ecology and BSG.

Housing will be made up of a mix of one- to four-bed homes, with around 30% designated as affordable.

As well as the houses, the D&A statement references potential for a community sports and recreation area, new walking routes through the site, and a green buffer zone that will separate the development from the homes located south of the site.

Public open corridors of green space through the site will retain existing hedgerows, trees, and drainage ditches, and provide pedestrian and cycling links between the estate and Haxby.
