York Central outlines next steps
Ahead of submitting a reserved matters application in November, the development team will be presenting the specifics of the next phase of the city’s major regeneration scheme at a public consultation on 6 October.
Specifically, this will include 999 homes, 20% of which will be affordable, a 99,000 sq ft Innovation Hub, a 213-bed hotel, and 69,000 sq ft of retail and leisure space, a new western station entrance, and public realm and a park.
Taking place from 2-7pm at the National Railway Museum, the information and feedback forms will also be available online from this date at www.yorkcentral.uk.
Members of McLaren Regeneration and Arlington Real Estate will be there on the day to answer questions about the project, which could add up to 20% to York’s future economy and generate 6,500 jobs.
They are working in partnership with Homes England, Network Rail, City of York Council, and the National Railway Museum to deliver York Central.
Tom Gilman, managing director of McLaren Regeneration, said: “Engaging with the local community has always been important to us and we would encourage as many people as possible to take part in this latest round of consultation to find out more about our plans for this first phase of delivery at York Central.
“This process follows previously well attended and encouraging drop-in sessions that we held earlier this year, as we make progress on delivering this brand-new city quarter for York.”
