Wykeland Beal looks to add to Hull’s Fruit Market regen
Building on previous collaboration in delivering more than 100 new-build homes and commercial units within the city centre district, the developers are looking to team up once again to create around 6,000 sq ft of retail space and 33 homes.
The project team includes Stantec and Framework Architects.
Located south of Humber Street, west of Queen Street, and north of Wellington Street, the proposal is spread over two parcels of land.
The larger of the two sites is home to Pier Court, an existing apartment block that will be demolished, and a private car park that will be built on, while the smaller site is to the rear of the recently completed Social music venue, next to the Smoke House on Wellington Street.
Both parcels of land will consist of retail and residential units, with each blocks comprising five commercial shops at ground floor level, ranging from 240 sq ft to 1,000 sq ft, and the homes made up of five town houses and 28 one- to two-bedroom apartments.
An 11-space car park will also be included on the Pier Court site, with six EV charging points.
Located within the old town of the city, the land is within a conservation area but doesn’t contain any listed buildings.
Surrounded by retail, leisure, and office buildings, Wykeland Beal believes the project will add to the ongoing regeneration in the Fruit Market area.
Hull is set to consider the proposal on Wednesday, 1 October, with a recommendation to approve.
