Taylor Wimpey submits plans for 380 York homes
The development is part of a wider plan for an 845 home ‘garden village’ on the outskirts of the city, located on land south of Stockton Lane and north of Bad Bargain Lane.
Plans also include a 2,000 sq ft convenience store with the same size parcel of land set aside for either community facilities or a childcare site.
The project team for this part of the scheme also consists of Johnson Mowat planning consultants and PRA Architecture.
Taylor Wimpey submitted the plans in December, for land currently allocated as Green Belt land in the York Local Plan from 2005.
The planning documents note that a new Local Plan is on the cusp of being adopted and when it is, the land will be assigned for residential development.
Located 800m to the west of the A64 and 3km from the city centre, the idea behind the ‘garden village’ is that it mirrors other small villages that orbit York.
Plans show that the majority of dwellings will be two-storey, with a mix of terraced, semi-detached and detached, with a central village square.
A road is shown to run through the centre of the development, allowing for public transport links.
Furthermore, a three-metre wide foot and cycleway will connect Stockton Lane to Bad Bargain Lane via the village centre.
