Stalled 127-home Leyburn scheme gets underway

Yorvik Homes’ plans for an estate on the edge of the North Yorkshire town were first unveiled seven years ago, with permission granted in February 2023.

Work has now begun on Highfield Chase, comprising a mix of detached, semi-detached, and terraced houses.

The independent home-builder is based in York and has previously built the 75-home Southlands Grange in Bedale and the six-home Woodlands Walk, New Duffield.

Conditions attached to the development include £150,000 towards improved bus links, £364,000 towards an extension at the town’s primary school, and public access to connect the town centre with the estate.

Twenty eight of the homes will be available as discounted first homes to buy and 10 will be designated as affordable for the rental market.
