South Yorkshire bookseller expands with 30,000 sq ft move to Grange Mill Lane
Bestsellers Direct has signed a 10-year lease on units 3 and 4 at the Sheffield industrial estate, following Network Space’s refurbishment of the scheme.
The South Yorkshire bookseller has more than 40 years of trading history has expanded its operations after securing 30,277 sq ft of space.
The Sheffield-based business will use the facility for book storage, sales and distribution, supporting its next phase of growth as it supplies customers across the UK and overseas.
The latest letting means Grange 34 is now 50% occupied, with Network Space reporting continued demand for modern industrial accommodation at the estate.
The deal follows another recent letting of more than 22,000 sq ft at the scheme, which has undergone refurbishment to provide updated industrial space for occupiers.
Founded by managing director Ian White, Bestsellers Direct has grown from a small discount bookseller into an international wholesaler, supplying thousands of titles across fiction, children’s books, gift books and specialist publications. The company has also expanded through the acquisition of Bookmark, a specialist retailer of military and transport books, and became a majority employee-owned business in 2021.
Ian White said the move would provide the business with additional warehousing and distribution capacity while allowing it to remain based in Sheffield.
Sheffield and Rotherham city centres are within 20 minutes’ drive, making Grange 34 an attractive proposition for warehousing, logistics, and manufacturing businesses, underpinned by the limited supply of this size of unit along this M1 corridor.
Knight Frank and CPP are appointed as letting agents.
Helen Gordon, property director at Network Space, said: “It’s particularly rewarding to welcome another successful company to Grange 34. Seeing such a well-established local business choose the estate for its next phase of growth is a strong endorsement of the quality of the accommodation and the location.
“Reaching 50% occupancy at Grange 34 demonstrates the continued demand we’re seeing from growing businesses looking to invest in modern, energy-efficient space and underlines the continued confidence in South Yorkshire as a central hub for logistics and distribution.”
Rebecca Schofield, partner at Knight Frank, said: “Grange 34 offers modern industrial and warehouse accommodation in one of Sheffield’s established commercial locations, providing excellent access to the regional and national motorway network.
“With leasing activity continuing at pace and the remaining accommodation being reconfigured to meet market demand, Grange 34 demonstrates the benefits of strong asset management and investment to deliver modern, quality workspace.”
