Public consultation launched for York Barbican site

Following on from plans submitted by Persimmon last month for 240 apartments, the developer is looking for input from city residents.

The homes on the two-acre former swimming pool site were designed by Seven Architecture and Nineteen47 was the planning consultant on the project.

As well as that site, a 0.12-acre plot of land on the corner of Fawcett Street and Kent Street is part of the proposals, which will house 12 apartments.

The operator and the exact use of this space will be shaped by the consultation.

On completion, 53 of the homes, or 22%, will be affordable and transferred to a housing provider.
