Plans lodged for 123,000 sq ft Huddersfield industrial
The proposed development comprises 14 units, including integral offices, mezzanines, vehicle parking, and landscaping, off Blackmoorfoot Road.
The scheme was designed by KPP Architects on behalf of Park Valley Huddersfield.
Full planning permission for 80,000 sq ft has been sought, with the remaining 43,000 sq ft in outline. Three buildings are included in the full application, with 11 smaller units in the outline part.
The site is unoccupied and was previously occupied by Lowdham’s Leisureworld as a caravan sales and storage centre.
The Kirklees Local Plan has designated the site as residential, however previous plans submitted for residential purposes were deemed unfeasible.
Access to the site would be via Blackmoorfoot Road, which has bus routes running into the town centre. Huddersfield train station is just over two miles away.
In terms of road access, the A62, Manchester Road, would provide a connection point for industrial operations.
The Design & Access statement noted that the building height, scale, materials, and cladding would be in keeping with neighbouring properties.
In terms of sustainability, it also stated that the building would be BREEAM very good standard.
Parking on site would go from 45 car spaces to 168, including 20 disability spaces. Via Solutions has advised on transport.
