Pickering development recommended for approval
Farmer Derek John Beal’s plans for 110 self-build homes on land west of Malton Road have reached council again, and are set to get the green light this time.
The plans were first discussed by North Yorkshire Council in June, although a decision was deferred to allow for more consultation with Yorkshire Water and the Lead Local Flood Authority in relation to surface water drainage and sewerage capacity.
With this now cleared up, Beal, who has been supported by agent Ullyotts throughout the process, is likely to get the go-ahead for the development, which would be built on nine acres of land near his home in Malton.
An adjoining 2.5-acre parcel of land is also part of the application, and will be used for public open space to complement the estate.
The housing mix will comprise one- to three-bedroom bungalows and two- and three-bedroom houses, of which around 35% will be affordable.
The development will also have a children’s playground.
Beal is listed as director of Peredurus, which is involved in mixed farming and the development of houses.
