Orgreave Park developer submits EIA scoping query
The move is the first stage in creating a 900-home estate and 49-acre business park on Green Belt land at Handsworth Hall Farm in Sheffield.
The proposals form part of Sheffield City Council’s wider plans to bring forward housing and employment development on Green Belt land identified through its emerging Local Plan, with 14 green belt sites identified across the city for potential development as part of its strategy for growth over the next 15 years.
The council has said this has been made necessary by a requirement to find space for 3,500 homes by 2039.
The proposed Orgreave Park development would be built next to Waverley Advanced Manufacturing Park on around 150 acres of working arable farmland.
Handsworth Farm Partnership is behind the proposals, working alongside Savills on the proposed scheme.
The development would be accessed primarily from Orgreave Lane and would incorporate extensive green infrastructure and open space.
The environmental impact assessment submitted by the developer runs to 112 pages and sets out the potential effects of the proposed development ahead of the outline planning application.
