Newett puts in for Denby Dale housing
The housebuilder has submitted plans for 40 homes on land along Barnsley Road in the Kirklees village.
The development would include 20% affordable housing, equating to eight homes. This would comprise a quarterhouse block containing four apartments, alongside four two-bedroom houses.
The application highlights Denby Dale’s strong transport links, with the village served by a railway station on the Penistone Line providing services to Huddersfield and Sheffield.
The site also benefits from road connections via the A636 and A637, providing access to the M1 motorway and wider routes towards Leeds and Sheffield.
Denby Dale sits within a semi-rural setting, close to Upper and Lower Denby, Scissett, and Clayton West. Huddersfield is around nine miles away, while Barnsley is approximately 10 miles from the village.
The project team working on the proposals includes Parker Peel Architectural, Johnson Mowat, and Brooks Ecological, with highways and engineering consultancy provided by Haigh Huddleston & Associates.
The application is now with Kirklees Council for consideration.
