Mountpark ramps up Ferrybridge intentions
Detailed proposals have been lodged with Wakefield Council for the first units within the industrial specialist’s development of the former power station, amounting to 635,000 sq ft.
A hybrid consent was secured in August 2024 for the 110-acre Mountpark Ferrybridge project – at the former coal stock yard for Ferrybridge C – covering full permission for site infrastructure, and outline approval for 1.64m sq ft of industrial & logistics space.
Carter Towler and JLL are instructed as joint agents. Oxalis is the planning consultant.
Now, SMR Architects has put meat on the bones of the Zone B area of the Ferrybridge masterplan, with plans for Units 3, 4, and 5 outlined in papers lodged with local authority Wakefield.
The site, closed in 2016 and with the former buildings now demolished, sits between Castleford and Knottingley, close to Junction 33 of the M62.
As set out in SMR’s design & access statement, the largest unit, Unit 3, is intended to offer slightly more than 330,000 sq ft, with the smallest building, Unit 4 coming in at around 68,000 sq ft and Unit 5 at 236,000 sq ft. All units have supporting office space.
Elsewhere within the masterplan area, Zone A is now being taken forward for a data centre.
