More tea for Sheffield’s Heart of the City

Independent tea company Bird & Blend Tea Co and fast food outlet Pret A Manger are the latest retailers to move into the city’s £480m, 1.5m sq ft scheme.

Developed by Sheffield City Council and its strategic development partner, Queensberry, Heart of the City is made up of offices, residential and retail units, in repurposed buildings.

Pret’s 1,200 sq ft unit fronts Cambridge Street and is located on the ground floor of the office block Isaacs Building.

The new Pret will be managed by franchise partner Exultant Group and will become Pret’s third in Sheffield, including another unit opening in Meadowhall Frasers next week.

In partnership with The Pret Foundation, Pret and Exultant Group are set to work with three local charities in Sheffield, including Impact Living, S12 Richard Taylor and Royal Assembly, donating surplus food to at the end of each day.

Bird &  Blend’s unit is located on the corner of Pinstone Street and Cross Burgess Street and is also 1,200 sq ft. Creating at least six new jobs, the Sheffield shop is the 20th retail store in the company’s portfolio.

Cllr Ben Miskell, chair of the transport, regeneration and climate policy committee at Sheffield City Council, said: “It’s fantastic to see so many brilliant businesses choosing to open their stores within our Heart of the City development.

“It’s clear that our vision to transform the city centre is bringing about more jobs and helping to boost economic growth in the city.”
