Metroland tries again in Doncaster
Approval for the developer’s 186-home Balby scheme was recommended but deferred at the council’s last meeting, with a site visit organised to assess the impact on the surrounding roads and traffic.
The scheme is once again recommended for approval, subject to a 23% affordable housing clause in the S106 – a provision of 43 affordable homes had already been suggested by Metroland.
The wider project team includes planner Spawforths and Parker Peel Architectural, and the housing mix will consist of bungalows, two-storey, and 2.5-storey homes, with semi-detached and detached designs.
Balby is around 4km south of Doncaster centre, and the 16-acre site sits south of Alverley Lane and west of Tickhill Road.
As well as the homes, the application is for water drainage infrastructure, vehicle access from Alverley Lane, garages, a pumping station, and public open space.
The development was originally submitted by Barratt Homes in 2022, but is now being developed by Metroland.
