Leeds launches £1.5bn construction framework 

YORBuild Major Works 2 will cover general building projects on public sector assets and will be jointly managed by Leeds, East Yorkshire, Sheffield, and North Yorkshire councils.

The framework will be in place to support public sector organisations such as NHS trusts, housing associations, and local authorities in Yorkshire, the Humber, Lincolnshire, the North East, Derbyshire, and Nottinghamshire.

Works involved are principally general building works including contractors design,  some civil engineering, and new-build housing.

Up to 16 contractors will be appointed across two lots of projects (those valued between £10m-£30m and those above £30m), leaving existing contractors BAM, B+K, Galliford Try, Tilbury Douglas, Kier, Morgan Sindall, Wates and Willmott Dixon in a fight for their place.

An emphasis will be placed on modern methods of construction, low-carbon targets, local employment initiatives, and NEC4 and JCT forms.

Initially the framework will last for four years from April 2026, with the option of a two-year extension.

Those interested in applying have until 23 December, with contracts expected the following April.
