Leeds foodhall cues up Bank Holiday weekend opening
White Cloth Hall, operated by Whitelock’s managing director Ed Mason, is to open its doors this Friday following an overhaul.
White Cloth Hall is located on Crown Street, just behind the Leeds’ Corn Exchange, and dates back to 1775.
Formerly home to brands including BrewDog and Pizza Express, the site was bought by Mason, boss of noted local pub Whitelock’s Ale House, in autumn last year, with redevelopment then being triggered, with the previous three separate spaces being unified.
White Cloth Hall will launch with four kitchens including Pizza Loco and Kuala Lumpur Cafe, both of which have built up reputations elsewhere in the city, alongside a grill and oyster bar concept from Lupton’s Chop House – a new venture from the kitchen team at Whitelock’s Ale House.
White Cloth Hall will also house an all day coffee shop, opening from 8am on weekdays.
The main bar will boast a wide range of beers, including Kirkstall Brewery and Five Points, the brewer co-founded by Mason.
He said: “We are really excited to finally be launching this latest addition to the Leeds food and drink scene – it’s been a long time in the planning, and we hope we’ve done justice to this beautiful building.
“We are committed to working with interesting, innovative and independent suppliers and food partners. We have a brilliant line-up of kitchens – and we hope that people love what we are doing with the different areas of the venue, from the coffee shop to the wine bar to the main food and drink hall.”
