Keighley Habitat Bank launched
The 140-acre site operated by Environment Bank is located on the edge of Ilkley Moor and will help prevent flooding in the area.
Previously used for sheep-grazing, the pasture will be cultivated into meadows, fens, scrub, grassland, and woodland.
The eco-systems will encourage animals such as otters and badgers to live there, as well as nesting birds.
A portion of the seven pasture fields sits within flood zones along Holden Beck, so the plan is to improve the soil health and habitat structure along this stretch.
Units are ready to purchase now, subject to availability.
Cameron Chester, senior ecologist leading on Keighley Habitat Bank, said: “This is a really great site located at the edge of the beautiful Ilkley Moor. There are some really ecologically valuable habitats here already, including upland fen and waxcap grassland, and the opportunity to enhance those and the site as a whole is really exciting.”
