      The Opportunity

      We have an opportunity for a Rating Surveyor or Senior Rating Surveyor to join a well-established Business Rates team, based out of Leeds.

      Our clients’ Rating Team is a highly successful department, providing business rates advisory services to a wide range of private and public sector clients, advising in respect of a diverse range of property types.

      Due to a growing client base and new instructions, the successful candidate shall assist with all aspects of business rates advice, providing a great opportunity to improve and develop on your existing knowledge and skills, with excellent career progression.

      Duties and Responsibilities

      • Inspection, measurement and floor area calculation of commercial properties.
      • Analysis of rental and assessment evidence and undertaking business rates valuations.
      • Consideration of legislative provisions and relevant factors affecting rating valuation and rates liabilities.
      • Contesting rateable values via the Check, Challenge and Appeal system.
      • Liaison with Local Authorities in appropriate circumstances concerning reliefs, exemptions and liabilities.
      • Dealing with day-to-day management of clients, advising on rating matters and reporting to them on relevant issues.
      • Representing the company and demonstrating an understanding of the range of property related services available to clients, along with promoting business of other service lines (cross-selling).
      • Any other duties commensurate with this level of post.
      • Mentorship and guidance shall be provided to the successful candidate throughout their career, to assist them in improving their knowledge of all aspects of rating advice and to provide an opportunity to work on specialist property categories.

      Qualifications/Experience

      • MRICS Qualified
      • Minimum 1 years of existing experience in providing rating advice / appeal services.
      • Ability to inspect and measure bulk class properties (office, retail & industrial).
      • Experience in using Microsoft Word and Excel, along with using software related to business rates valuations, liability calculation and appeals.
      • Strong verbal & numerical skills and adept at report writing.
      • Commercial acumen and knowledge of relevant strategies/tactics.
