Honey opens Leeds office, confirms five senior additions

The ambitious Sheffield-based housebuilder has taken a seven-year lease on 5,000 sq ft at Thorpe Park as it continues to add senior people to the ranks.

The Leeds base, located by Junction 46 of the M1, was announced earlier this year and will operate as Honey Yorkshire. The Sheffield office is billed as Honey Central, covering projects in South Yorkshire and the East Midlands.

Honey was founded in October 2022 by ex-Avant Homes chief executive Mark Mitchell. In March this year, the company hired ex-Avant Central managing director Chris Coley to lead the Sheffield and Leeds offices as MD, and there is an Avant influence throughout the incoming cohort.

Honey has recruited Ben Smith as land director; Kyle Danton as commercial director; Simon Hogg as construction director; Wayne Moses as head of technical; and Curtis Sorren as head of sales.

Smith has more than 20 years of experience in land manager and land director roles, working in companies such as Linden, Vistry, Avant, and Bellway.

Danton has more than 18 years of experience in the industry and also previously worked at Avant, rising to commercial director.

Joining from Keepmoat, Hogg has more than 30 years of experience and has worked for companies such as Lovell, Avant, Persimmons, and United Living.

Moses has more than 20 years of experience and has most recently worked as head of technical at Artisan Real Estate, and engineering manager at Engie and Harron Homes.

Sorren has more than 20 years of experience in sales including eight in the property industry, working for Barratt, Bellway, and Avant, before joining Honey.

Backed by private equity firm Alchemy Partners and its Alchemy Special Opportunities Fund IV, since its inception, Honey has secured 14 sites across Yorkshire and the Midlands and aims to deliver 1,781 homes and a combined gross development value of £530m.
