Heart of the City snags England store debut
Menswear retailer Weekend Offender has selected the Sheffield city centre development as the site for its first shop in the country, taking a 1,500 sq ft unit on Pinstone Street.
SmithYoung acted on behalf of landlord Sheffield City Council and Johnstone PC acted on behalf of Weekend Offender.
Fit-out of the new store will begin shortly before it opens in the New Year.
The brand also has a unit in Bridgend in Wales and is known for its functional menswear with a twist. focused on jeans, hoodies, t-shirts, shorts, and a selection of kids wear as well.
Heart of the City is a council-led and owned development built by Henry Boot Construction which has transformed the city’s centre by creating 1.5m sq ft of mixed-use space. So far, investment in the scheme totals around £470m.
Cllr Ben Miskell, chair of the transport, regeneration and climate policy committee at Sheffield City Council, said: “Retail is playing an increasing role in the success of the transformation of the city centre alongside the food and beverage, high-quality office space and the residential apartments with this latest addition showing that we’re not the only people who think so.
“Over the past year we have seen some fantastic businesses coming into the Heart of the City with the whole development really coming to life.
“The addition of Weekend Offender, alongside the others we have announced in the past few weeks, just goes to prove the high calibre of companies we are attracting and, as a result, the unique offer we have for those who work, live and enjoy Sheffield city centre.”
