Go-ahead likely for 195 Boroughbridge homes

Eighteen months after submitting an application, Bellway’s plans for phase two of the Stump Cross development will be considered at North Yorkshire’s planning committee next week.

PRA Architecture and Johnson Mowat have supported the housebuilder with the scheme, which was originally looking to build 258 homes on the 24-acre site.

Stump Cross received outline permission in 2019 for up to 450 homes across two parcels of land, phase one of which consists of 256 houses, many of which are now occupied.

Located at the southern edge of the market town, around 18 miles from York, the site is currently an arable field and is no longer in use as agricultural land.

This site is south of phase one, and will be made up of one- to four-bed properties, with 40% designated as affordable.

Public green space will wrap around the site, and residents will be able to use the play areas already developed in phase one.

The council noted it will be looking for developer S106 contributions of around £2m, including £1m towards local schools.
