Go-ahead for homes near Hull

Persimmon’s 173-home Elloughton scheme has received unanimous approval from East Riding Council.

PRA Architecture designed the homes on behalf of Charles Church, one of Persimmon’s brands.

Plans were submitted back in November, for a mix of one- to four-bed houses and bungalows, 26 of which will be available for affordable rent.

Located off Welton Low Road, the land was already allocated for housing in the East Riding Local Plan.

As well as housing, Persimmon will create more than 2.5 acres of public open space, a children’s playground, and the S106 agreement has arranged for around £500,000 to be given towards local education and two new council-owned football pitches.

Part of the historic Roman Road runs through the estate, and this will be retained and made a feature of, with information boards detailing its history.

Persimmon would also like to have an exclusivity period on the homes for local people and key workers, to try to ensure Elloughton benefits from the development.
