Glenbrook consent for Sheffield’s Commercial House
The investment arm of the company has secured the rights to convert the Castlegate office building into 40 apartments and is weighing up whether to deliver the scheme itself or sell to a developer.
The former Barclays Bank, which has also been home to Knights Solicitors, will become a mix of one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments set across five storeys.
The project team includes planning consultant Urbana, transport consultant TPS, NoiseAir, EPS Consulting, and structural engineer Vision Design Group.
Commercial House sits in a gateway location a short walk from the city’s retail core, near to Ponds Forge International Sports Centre and Sheffield Hallam’s campus and close to a supertram stop.
Commenting on the project, Scott Griffiths, investment director at Glenbrook, said: “Securing consent at Commercial House marks an important milestone in our strategy.
“The scheme’s location is undergoing significant investment and combined with the city’s wider regeneration plans, makes this a compelling residential opportunity for both investors and future residents.
“We have received strong developer interest following approval and are subsequently weighing up whether to bring the scheme forward or agree a sale to a developer.”
