Gleeson Homes appoints land director
Paul Thornton has joined the housebuilder’s Yorkshire team from Crest Nicholson.
Thornton brings to Gleeson Homse more than 15 years of experience in the residential sector in the region. He previously worked at Persimmon West Yorkshire, Bellway Yorkshire, and, of course, Crest Nicholson’s Yorkshire division.
As land director, he will be focussed on growing Gleeson’s land portfolio in the region – a key part in enabling the company to reach its goal of delivering 3,000 homes a year.
Gleeson regional managing director Jim Brooks welcomed Thornton to the team.
“His wealth of experience, particularly across Yorkshire, aligns perfectly with our plans to strengthen our regional land pipeline,” Brook said.
“Paul’s insight and leadership will be invaluable as we continue to expand our presence and deliver high-quality homes that are genuinely affordable to everyone.”
For his part, Thornton said: “With an experienced team already in place, I look forward to progressing the region’s land strategy and contributing to the continued growth of the business across Yorkshire.”
Gleeson is active throughout Yorkshire, with plans to develop 73 homes on the former Fitzwilliam Colliery in Wakefield, 114 homes on the former Woolley Colliery site near Barnsley, and 147 homes in Keyingham.
Thornton’s recruitment comes in the middle of a hiring spree for Gleeson in Yorkshire. In April, Gleeson appointed Kenny Mawson and David Hodgkinson as directors and promoted Richard Love to head of finance.
In the North West, the housebuilder recruited former Vistry Group regional managing director Joanne Morrison to lead its North West division, with Matthew Swallow charged with leading the commercial team.
