Forshaw advances Kirkstall Road plans

The developer has moved to the consultation stage in its Foundry Square, Leeds scheme, designed by Ollier Smurthwaite Architects.

Following a pre-application meeting with Leeds City Council at the beginning of the month, Forshaw Group has firmed up its plans for the development, which will now consist of 503 apartments.

Added to the plans are resident amenities, including a gym, pool, sauna, cinema lounge, 24-hour concierge, independent retailers, and co-working spaces.

Euan Kellie Property Solutions is the consultant on the project, and is expected to submit a planning application next month following the public consultation.

Forshaw has proposed five blocks ranging from five to 12 storeys, with ground floor commercial use, landscaping, green spaces, and car parking.

The scheme would join other major developments on the thoroughfare, such as Clarion’s £100m 1,600-home Dyecoats development, Glenbrook’s £152m 618-apartment project, and Countrylarge’s proposed 100-townhouse scheme.

Landscape architect re:form has been appointed, and the greenspace strategy includes ‘The Square’, a series of garden rooms alongside a flexible space for events and activities; a 2km wide ‘green link’ route from Kirkstall Road; a 3km active travel route for pedestrians and cyclists; and a south east facing area of greenspace called ‘The Garden’.

A focus on active travel led to the inclusion of 500 cycle parking spaces.
