Footasylum signs at Frenchgate

A deal for 9,000 sq ft takes occupancy to 90% at the Doncaster shopping centre, acquired by Frasers Group this summer.

The letting represents a new arrival at the 770,000 sq ft mall. Footasylum, established in 2005, is as the name suggests a footwear-led sports fashion retailer.

Along with trainer giants such as Nike and Adidas, Footasylum carries brands including Monterrian, Forena and Zavetti Canada.

Ian Leech, Frenchgate marketing manager, said “We are thrilled to welcome Footasylum to Frenchgate Shopping Centre. This exciting addition to our retail lineup comes at a great time, ahead of the Christmas shopping season.

“The introduction of Footasylum represents a significant step in our commitment to bringing premium brands to Doncaster, and we’re excited for our customers to explore Footasylum’s extensive range of exclusive and sought-after brands.”

Frenchgate was acquired by Frasers Group in July from Irish investor Patrick McKillen, giving the business a potential extended platform for group retailers such as Sports Direct, Evans Cycles and USC.

Highlighting chief executive Michael Murray’s promise to continue investing in bricks and mortar retail, the group opened flagship stores for Sports Direct and Frasers across 100,000 sq ft at the former Debenhams in Sheffield’s Meadowhall this September.
