Firms line up Doncaster resi
Willmott Dixon will build 83 homes across four sites for City of Doncaster Council, while Persimmon has won permission for 187 homes in Cantley.
The Willmott Dixon council housing will be the first gas-free homes commissioned by the local authority.
Procured through the framework YORBuild, WD will build 48 homes at Cedar Road, Balby, four homes at Edlington Lane, Edlington, as well as a further 21 homes at King Edward Road, Balby, and 10 homes at Goodison Boulevard, Cantley – an area where Persimmon has this month secured a major consent.
WD’s jobs at King Edward Road and Edlington Lane are expected to complete in summer 2025, while Cedar Road and Goodison Boulevard will be completed in early 2026.
The firm has previously built numerous affordable homes across various sites for the council.
Deputy mayor and cabinet member for housing and business at CoDC, Cllr Glyn Jones, said: “I am delighted that a further 83 affordable homes will be built across Doncaster.
“We have worked alongside our partners at Willmott Dixon over a variety of exciting projects and the standard of housing delivered is always of the highest standard. I look forward to seeing these innovative new projects come to life, and welcoming new residents to their new homes.”
Persimmon is now preparing to begin work at land south of Doncaster Road, allocated for housing in the city’s Local Plan.
Everingham Place will comprise homes from one-bed terraces to four-bed detached. All homes will be fitted with EV chargers.
The development will have significant areas of public open space, including an on-site play area and a trim-trail, York-based Persimmon said, with 43 of the homes to be made available through shared ownership and affordable rent schemes.
More than £1m will be provided by Persimmon to fund additional school places at two local schools.
