Esh starts work on £25m Bridlington scheme

The construction firm is delivering 54 affordable homes and a 68-apartment extra-care facility on Pinfold Lane, East Yorkshire, in partnership with Homes England, Yorkshire Housing, and Housing 21.

Homes England supplied £3m through its Continuous Market Engagement Fund.

Scheduled to complete in December next year, the affordable homes will be a mix of one- to three-bed properties available via affordable rent, shared ownership, and rent-to-buy.

The extra-care block will be owned by Housing 21, with all apartments available for social rent. Amenities will include a hair salon, communal lounge, and a restaurant, with the emphasis on supporting independent living.

Esh Construction was granted planning permission for the development in August 2023.

Located around two miles from the town centre, the zero-gas development will be called Baycroft and has been designed to be sustainable, with each home using air source heat pumps instead of gas boilers, solar panels, timber frames, and enhanced insulation.

Simon Woodward, operations director at Esh Construction, said: “We’ve driven this project forward through our land-led approach, working closely with key partners every step of the way.”
